Atlanta, Georgia — Leanne Saint John has been selected as the title heroine in “Paula Peril: Midnight is the Darkest Hour, ‘ a new action-adventure feature film in pre-production at New Phoenix Filmworks. This film is adapted from the popular comic book Paula Peril, and is currently scheduled for a Fall 2007 release.

“Leanne beat out several very talented actresses for this role, and will do justice to Paula Peril, an amazing, spunky, sexy, crime-solving heroine with a knack for danger,” says writer producer director Andy Rodriguez, “Leanne had a great audition at Paramount Pictures and we’re convinced she’ll be a new favorite for our fans!”

Leanne is an up-and-coming actress and model with credits that include appearances on popular television series such as “Boston Legal” and “Wedding Belles”. She is extremely excited to take on the female lead role in an action-adventure film. “This is a character I can personally relate to in so many ways” said Leanne recently, “It’s an honor to have the opportunity to portray such a dynamic character!”

This film will be the second time Paula Peril has made the jump from comics to film. Recently a seven-minute short was self-produced by Atlantis Studios, starring Valerie Perez in the title role. “Midnight is the Darkest Hour is something much more ambitious,” said James Watson, creator of the Paula Peril series, “This will be a broadcast-quality 70-minute feature film, designed for comic book fans, direct-to-home video, and perhaps even limited theatrical distribution.”
