Star Trek History & Impact Get Center Stage on the Next Slice of SciFi Show #96

February 10, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

On Wednesday, February 14, 2007 the Slice of SciFi Show #96 will feature as our guest Mr. John Logsdon, director and producer and the man behind The History Channel’s presentation of “STAR TREK: BEYOND THE FINAL FRONTIER,” which premiers on Monday, February 19th at 9:00PM ET/PT and is hosted by Star Trek icon Leonard Nimoy (Spock).

This will be a fascinating journey into the Star Trek universe that examines the huge impact this franchise has had on, not only America’s, but the entire world’s pop culture and mores over the last 40 years. Much of the program is spent at the recent Christie’s auction of Star Trek props, collectibles and memorabilia that has been kept in storage by Paramount for the last four decades. Logsdon’s documentary presentation interviews some of the biggest names in the franchise and many of the fans that has made this little space opera such a vital part of the human experience and cultural lexicon.

Something else we learned from John that blew us away was the fact that The History Channel will also be airing another Star Trek special immediately prior to and after the “BEYOND THE FINAL FRONTIER” special called “STAR TREK TECH” that deals with the important technological advancements and contributions that real science and engineering have been able to provide mankind as a direct result of the influence of Star Trek.

If you want a great interview and the latest news in scifi, horror and the supernatural then you are not going to want to miss Slice of SciFi Show #96 ready for download on February 14, 2007. Special Note to our XM Satellite Radio listeners, this show will be available the following week.
