Kyle’s News Briefs

August 2, 2006 By Kyle Nin Leave a Comment

The Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard is rumored to be director Jon Fareau’s main choice for his forthcoming Iron Man movie. Iron Man begins filming in early 2007 for a May 2, 2008 release.

Barbara Broccoli and her producers for James Bond have decided on May 2, 2008, as the most likely release date for the upcoming 22nd 007 adventure, which will again star Casino Royale’s Daniel Craig.

Hollywood is decidedly unhappy with Mel Gibson over his latest fau pax. “People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or Gentile,” stated big-time agent to the stars Ari Emanuel “need to demonstrate that they understand how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him, even if it means a sacrifice to their bottom line.” Ooooouch!

Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) returns to the silver screen on November 17th in the supernatural thriller “The Return.” She plays Joanna Mills, a tough young Midwesterner determined to learn the truth behind the increasingly terrifying supernatural visions that have been haunting her.

Not sure we want to mention this, but here goes….a very strong rumor is stating that George Clooney will do a remake of Stephen King’s “Pet Semetary,” and he will star in it also. There, we said it….oh good, the Earth didn’t open up and swallow us whole.

And finally, a Star Trek icon, Marina Sirtis (Counsellor Deanna Troi) is throwing cold water on the idea of another prequel to the STAR TREK franchise. She is, of course, dis’ing J.J. Abrams’ attempt at the STAR TREK: XI film, which even he purports will probably be a prequel to the original series which featured James T. Kirk, Spock, McCoy and the whole Enterprise NCC-1701 gang. Her entire rant against the idea can be found at Marina’s dedicated CHAT SITE.
