Tom Cruise: Iron Man?

May 10, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 10 Comments

Rumor control has it that Tom Cruise is seriously considering the starring role in the upcoming “Iron Man” superhero comic-to-film feature.

Truth or fiction? Only Tom and Katie know for sure, but he and Jon Favreau, the film’s director are reportedly close friends and Tom has been wanting a chance to work with him……. so, only time and truth in adverstising will tell.

Not addressing his other short comings, Cruise is simply not tall enough to play Tony Stark! The costume people would have to put eye-holes in the chest of the armor.

This is an old rumor.. Originally (at least 5 years ago) Tom wanted to star in as well as direct and/or produce an Iron Man film. I’m wondering if this is just a rehash of that story based on Tom’s relationship with Favreau.

At one time, I would have been happy with Cruise as Stark, but not anymore.

I thought Tom was long considered for the role.

    Umm, No thanks Tom…

Don’t think I would go see that one, I’m kinda Burned out on Tom since way back when…. hehe

Maybe The Rock or Vin Diesel in the part…

    Then again maybe not… hehe

If Tom got the role it would guaranty the movie would fail. I for one would never want to see TC ever play a superhero, except for say that of Zan of the wonder twins. He is that character with out the superpowers.

Come on guys, put a moustache on Tom and he’s a dead ringer for Stark. Too short? He’s a guy in an iron suit, what would it matter?

He’d need to bust out a fat mustache!

How about Keanu Reeves…. nah just kidding

I’d like to see a female lead in this actually, i think it would be an interesting change

I see someone a bit more distinguished playing the part of Tony Stark. I think TS is just as, if not more so, important as Iron Man in a film version of the comic.

You’d need someone like Tom Selleck, or someone a bit younger but with his presence, to play the role with a bit of class.

    Tom Cruise can bite me.
