Completing “The Planet”

April 23, 2006 By Lesmond Leave a Comment

Writer and director Mark Stirton of the Scotland based Stirton Productions has just completed his film “The Planet.”

The film stars Mr. Universe Mike Mitchell who plays Captain Morgan and concerns itself with a group of shipwrecked mercenaries and their struggle to survive on an alien world.

This is Mark Stirton’s first major full-length feature after the release of several short films including the highly successful comedy in 2004 titled “Removals.”

Stirton said in a written interview, “This production has taken 2 years of intensive work and we would like to thank the numerous people who have made this possible, In particular Michael Clark and Kerwin Robertson, the producers, who have been with the project since the very beginning. Many thanks must also go to Mike Mitchell for his continued support, as well as Patrick Wight (who co-stars) and Scott Ironside.

“We are looking forward to releasing the finished film and are extremely proud of the work that we have accomplished; we consider this to be the most ambitious science fiction film ever produced in Scotland. The final production is a feature length movie with over 300 visual effects and is testament to what can be achieved with even a small crew.

“We would also like to thank the various people who have contacted us over the last 2 years to offer support and advice. It is very much appreciated and we now look forward to sharing the film with you.”
