The New Voice of Howard Stern

January 10, 2006 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

Howard Stern has made his big move to Sirius Satellite Radio this week and he had a big surprise for fans when his show at its new home opened.

George Takei, the legendary Mr. Sulu from STAR TREK fame is now the official on-air voice for The Howard Stern Show. He is live and in the studio all this week, but in the following weeks all his announcing will be done via “satellite” and pre-recorded messages.

Naturally being Howard Stern, he couldn’t let the fact of George’s recent announcement that he was gay alone. But, George displayed nothing but class and a great sense of humor over Howard’s typical antics. It is obvious George took the gig knowing what he was getting himself into.

When asked why Stern, Takei replied, “The revolution has begun.” He was, of course, referring to this new entity called pay-satellite broadcast radio programming. Owners of both Sirius and XM are banking on Stern’s move to the new technology to be a boom for both franchises.

Mike and Evo were also invited to join the ranks of satellite radio by the big daddy of space airways XM-Satellite and Slice of SciFi via The Dragon Page can be heard every Monday on XM Channel 163’s Sonic Theater. Air times for SoSF are 07:30AM, 3:30PM & 11:30PM EST. Look to the XM Playlist for rotating air dates each week.
