Cartoon Network Picks Up New Animated Batman

October 5, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

Batman has added another animated series to his resume.

Beginning in 2013, the Cartoon Network will begin airing Beware the Batman.

The series will feature CG animation. Katana will take the role of Robin as the Dark Knight’s sidekick. We’ll also see a gun-wielding Alfred Pennyworth and a new roster of villains including Grant Morrison’s recently created Professor Pyg.

“Katana is gonna be his new Robin, but not necessarily,” executive vice president for creative affairs at Warner Bros Animation Sam Register said.

“We went in deeper into the villain library and pulled out some other villains,” he added during a speech at the MIP Junior conference in Cannes, France. “We didn’t want to do another Joker story – there’s too many of them. We just needed to do something new, so we’re starting off with new villains.”

Beware the Batman will join Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series in Cartoon Network’s DC Nation programming block, alongside some newly announced shorts featuring Plastic Man, Doom Patrol, Batgirl, Supergirl and Wonder Girl.

I cannot see one single way this will fail.

All the different ways pile up at once.
