A couple of weeks ago, we told you that Universal was having second thoughts about the ambitious project to bring the Dark Tower to the big and small screen.
Now comes word that Universal has decided not to move forward with the project and has cancelled it.
The project would have brought the best-selling series by Stephen King to life in three movies and several TV series. It was being headed up by Oscar-winner Ron Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman.
Universal has reportedly been balking at the price tag associated with the project and had other concerns as well.
Aw man. I was actually getting excited about this. Javier Bardem was a great choice for Roland.

I mean…I know that it’s all about money, greed and fear when it comes to movie-making (oh, yeah…and the ‘art’ thing), but with *these* people attached to it, you’d think that it’d be something that they’d be all up on.

Personally, I’m okay with this. I’d rather they not do it at all if they won’t commit to spending the money to it right. So, it’s sad that it won’t be produced, but I’m happy that one of my beloved series won’t be watered down and ruined by corporate interests.
