Mortensen Under Consideration for Superman Reboot

February 28, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Now that Henry Cavill will step into the cape and tights as the Man of Steel for the upcoming Superman reboot, attention is turning to who might play the villain in the upcoming film.

Rumors have it that General Zod could show up in the reboot and that Warner Brothers is pursuing actor Viggo Mortensen for the role. Mortensen is also in talks to join “Snow White and the Huntsman” and it’s not yet known if that project could conflict with the Superman timeline.

Sources say no talks have commenced and that Mortensen is just a “person of interest,” much like Kevin Costner is for the role of Jonathan Kent. The actors aren’t the only ones considered for their respective roles, though they are the ones most seriously talked about.

It’s also reported that director Zack Snyder is in talks with three actresses for female roles in the film.

As soon as we have firm details on the casting news, we’ll bring it to you right here at Slice of SciFi.

We’ve had Luthor numerous times as well as Zod. They should really go after a different villain such as either Braniac, Parasite, or even Metallo. That would certainly get me interested in seeing the new Supes movie!!!

If Costner is in talks for Jonathan Kent and he accepts the part then you can bet his will be more than just a cameo like was done with the late and great Glenn Ford in the Reeve version of Superman.
