The Hollywood Reporter has weighed in with their thoughts on the upcoming release of “The Green Hornet.”
Here’s an excerpt:
While the slick vehicle in question — a seriously pimped-out Chrysler Imperial — delivers the awe-inspiring goods, The Green Hornet itself never achieves sufficient traction to go the blockbuster distance.
Credit Rogen, who co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg, and Gondry for attempting to take the 75-year-old radio serial (and mid-’60s TV series) in some fresh, irreverent directions. But the stop/start end result fails to sustain any satisfying momentum.
Rogen’s fan base as well as the fanboys who were teased with footage in July at Comic-Con should ensure the picture has a decent opening, but it could fall short of generating sufficient buzz to spawn repeat business.

OK. So… I could have told you that from watching the preview. “Uninspired” and “lame” came to my mind at the time.
Calysta Rose says
Maybe if the movie had been about Kato I’d care.

I’m not a Rogen hater, but the minute I saw the trailer all my optimism for this went right out the window.
Jeremy Collins says
The AMC Theatre in my neighborhood has $5 movies all day M-R. I think $5 is an acceptable risk for this movie. I don’t need it to be the best thing ever, just something I can enjoy.
DoctorWhoFan says
While I liked Kato in the movie, I did not like the way that the Green Hornet was portrayed. He was too much of a joke to be taken seriously. While I enjoyed the movie overall, I think it could have been a lot better if the character was taken more seriously.

The “Green Hornet” this time is why I’ve quit going to movies. Bad concept, bad writing, worse performances and a waste of money. Who directed this travesty? Whomever, kick him/her out of the DGA.
