“The Hobbit” Cast Announced

October 25, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Now that the green light has been lit for “The Hobbit,” the casting can begin.

Or at least the confirmation of what we’ve heard for months can finally begin.

With Peter Jackson at the helm, several roles have been announced. Martin Freeman will be the lead role of Bilbo Baggins and Richard Armitage will play Thorin Oakenshield.

Rob Kazinsky will play Fili, while Graham McTavish will play Dwalin.

Other dwarfs include John Callen (Power Rangers) as Oin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, Mark Hadlow (King Kong) as Dori, and Peter Hambleton as Gloin.

Former Doctor Sylvester McCoy will also be part of the cast as Radagast The Brown.

This should be great. However, Gandalf is the key role as is Bilbo’s. I just hope it is not in 3D!!!.

They also cast Aidan Turner (Mitchell from Being Human) as one of the twin dwarves, Fili and Kili.

k9: Or at the very least the 3D is subtle like in Up.

Of course I wouldn’t see it in 3D either way as the glasses hurt my eyes.
