“Firefly” Rewind: “Serenity”: A HitFix Review

June 9, 2010 By News Droid 1 Comment

This summer, HitFix television blogger Alan Sepinwall is looking back at Joss Whedon’s “Firefly.”

Sepinwall is looking at one episode per week in the intended viewing order and kicked things off this week with his thoughts on the pilot episode, “Serenity.”

Joss Whedon series tend to grow in fits and starts. “Buffy” didn’t really come into its own until the start of its second season, “Angel” not until the end of its second, “Dollhouse” not really until Fox canceled it and Whedon had the freedom of not worrying about that show’s future. And Joss will cop to all of this without apology.

“Firefly,” on the other hand? That was the show Joss understood from the start, even if Fox didn’t.

This is one of the best shows ever, much less Sci-Fi. Leave it to Fox to screw it up yet again. Besides cancelling Angel, this is was the worst.
