April 21, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Former “Star Trek” producer Brannon Braga has been tapped to be the show runner for the upcoming prehistoric dinosaur drama “Terra Nova.”

The series, which has been given a green light by Fox, will be produced by Steven Spielberg. The series has been given a 13-episode order and according to the Hollywood Reporter, Braga will be the series’ show runner and executive producer.

In a related story, “Early Edition” and “Friday Night Lights” star Kyle Chandler is rumored to be in discussions for the lead role in the show.

“Terra Nova” follows a family from 100 years in the future who travel back in time 150 million years to prehistoric Earth ruled by dinosaurs. It was co-written by Craig Silverstein and British scribe Kelly Marcel, from an idea of Marcel’s.

This of course being Fox, if the show is good and avoids being just another running and jumping show and mixes in some good science with the story, it’ll be canned after 4 episodes that are aired out of order.

If it sucks expect it to run for 11 years.

Braga, huh? Well that settles it, I won’t need to watch it.
