Vaughn Wants To Adapt “Sandman” For Television

Vaughn Wants To Adapt “Sandman” For Television

March 17, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

For years, we’ve heard rumors that Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” comic book series might be adapted as a movie.

And while it might be cool to see the award-winning comic book series come to life on the silver screen, “Kick Ass” director Matthew Vaughn says that a movie version wouldn’t do the series justice.

Vaughn says he has a better idea–make “Sandman” into a television series, possibly for HBO.

“I think it would make an amazing HBO series, you know, where you can just really create that world,” Vaughn told MTV News. “There’s too much to get into an hour and a half, two hours.”

“[Neil and I] talked about it,” he added. “I think as a movie it’s virtually impossible to make properly.”

I’m thinking that HBO would be a perfect fit for ‘Sandman’. No broadcast TV content restraints, and no editing of the story to fit into a feature film timeframe.
