Marvel Launching New Comics Line

Marvel Launching New Comics Line

February 17, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Love the characters but don’t have time to catch up on a couple of decades of continuity?

Marvel has an answer for you, coming to a comic book store this May.

The comic book giant announced that it will launch a new series called “Astonishing” that will serve as a entry portal for novice comic book readers.

The first two series will feature a team-up of Spider-Man and Wolverine and a new X-Men comic.

Marvel’s VP of Sales and Circulation, David Gabriel, says, “They are firmly set in Marvel continuity but also accessible to new readers. If you’re looking for big changes and character developments or a place to start reading if you are new to comics, this is where you come.”

For those of you keeping track at home, this was the intention of the “Ultimate” comic line introduced about a decade ago.  However, as the comics have grown, they’ve added their own continuity that may keep newer fans away.

This title should have read “Disney launching new comic to leverage your dollars into their pockets”

You got that right Lejon. It’s almost like Disney is some sort of publicly traded company that is legally obligated to make a profit for it’s shareholders or something. Disney!
