More “Robot Chicken” On the Way

January 21, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Cartoon Network has given the green light for more “Robot Chicken” Variety reports.

The popular series, part of the cable outlet’s Adult Swim line-up, got an order for 40 more episodes, carrying the series through its fifth and sixth seasons.

The stop-motion animation/comedy series is the highest-rated original program for Adult Swim.

Robot Chicken was created by Seth Green
and Matthew Senreich. They are also executive producers on the show.

“It’s kind of amazing,” Green said about the renewal. “We never expected to do a second season, let alone a fifth and sixth. We’re really busy, but we’re still having a lot of fun making it.”

The show has nabbed two consecutive Emmy nominations for outstanding animated program. Green scored a nod for outstanding voice-over performance. Robot Chicken has also won four Annie Awards.

Robot Chicken, which initially aired in February 2005, has made Adult Swim a popular viewing spot for young men.

Green and Senreich write the series with head writers Tom Root and Douglas Goldstein and their staff. They also direct the show with Chris McKay.

    Stupid Monkey!
I wonder if they’ll do any more half hour specials like their Star Wars ones.
