Minear To Stay With 20th Century Fox

Minear To Stay With 20th Century Fox

December 8, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

minearWriter Tim Minear has signed an extension that will keep him with 20th Century Fox for the next two years, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Minear will work on the upcoming FX series, “Terriers” and will develop his own projects over the next couple of years, according to reports.

“Tim has been such a great partner to the studio,” 20th TV chairman Gary Newman said. “He is as versatile as any writer we’ve ever been in business with — he can do genre, action, relationship, drama — and he has worked on an incredible number of series for us.”

Minear will work with Shawn Ryan, the current producer of “Lie to Me” and creator of “The Shield” on “Terriers.”

Minear worked with Joss Whedon at Mutant Enemy on “Firefly” before moving on to creating his own shows.  Unfortunately, many of Minear’s shows were cancelled after short runs of Fox.

“Tim has … worked on an incredible number of series for us.”

That’s because the dang network keeps canceling them!!! If he could somehow convince Fox (the studio) to negotiate his shows with a network other than Fox (the channel), maybe he could get more than a season out of something. As it is, I’m still waiting for my DVDs of The Inside. It was a series with a lot of great, creepy stories that got hosed by the timing of it’s broadcast. (Weeknights during the Summer? Really, Fox?)

That said, I love the work of Masochist Minear, so the fact that he’s constantly working is fantastic. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next. There doesn’t seem to be a description of this Terriers show anywhere. :-\ Probably too much to hope that it’s about a bunch of BU alums.
