Coming Soon: A Vampire Romantic Comedy

Coming Soon: A Vampire Romantic Comedy

November 10, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

kristenritter2Acclaimed comedy director Amy Heckerling will write and direct the upcoming vampire romantic comedy “Vamps” according to Screen Daily.

The movie, which is set to begin production in March of next year, will be a modern-day tale of two young female vampires living the good life in New York until love enters the picture and each has to make a choice that will jeopardise their immortality.  (Think “Sex and the City” with fangs).

Actress Krysten Ritter (seen in the photo above)  has signed on for one of the two leading roles in the film.  Casting is currently underway for the other.

At least the good news about this one is that it will intentionally be funny, unlike another vampire romance movie about the sparkly kind of vampires…

As long as these vampire girls don’t step foot in the sun I’ll be fine. I still don’t understand how a creature can be a vampire if they can walk in the sun. It defies everything single vampire myth I know.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (the book) could go out in the sun; as could many of folklore’s vampires. It’s mostly the recent movies that introduced the not being able to go out in sun. Even very old myths had vampires that could go out out in sun, it just pained them to do so.
