They’re rebooting every horror franchise under the sun, so why not reboot the franchise that spoofs horror movies?
“Scary Movie 5” will be a reboot, according to web site Cinema Blend. Sources indicate that the Weinstein Company wants to have the series start over again with the fifth installment.
The reboot will feature new characters and be a spoof of all the latest horror films.
While critics believed the fourth installment was showing signs of fatigue for the franchise, it still took in a solid $180 million at the box-0ffice. A reboot allows the Weinstein Company to lower costs on the film and hopefully breath some new life into the franchise.
The reboot is expected to hit theaters in 2010, after the next installment of the “Scream” franchise.
