Goyer: “Magneto” Moving Forward

Goyer: “Magneto” Moving Forward

August 27, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

After “X-Men 2,” 20th Century Fox appeared eager to spin-off the mutant franchise into as many sequels and spin-offs as possible. For a long time, there were two X-related movies on the horizon, both dealing with the origins of two popular characters–Magneto and Wolverine.

Wolverine got his big-screen origin movie first. Now it appears Magneto is lining up for his turn at an origin film.

Writer David Goyer tells MTV News that 20th Century Fox is still interested in the project and that it could begin moving forward in the next year.

“I’ve been in touch with them,” he said. “I’m sure that project will move forward in the next year or so.”

A film centered on Magneto is just one of several X-Men related projects in the works at 20th Century Fox. There is a sequel to “Wolverine” in the works as well as the “X-Men: First Class” project.

Why be doing this ….They make mvies about charecters that we dont even want to see…jeez! Why no Nightcrawler, Cyclops or Dazzler movie. Ugh! C’mon Marvel. People got sick of Wolverine and that is why the movie was flop.

Sorry Sista, I disagree. Couldn’t care less about Cyclops (I cheered when he was dusted in 3), Nightcrawler maybe. But Magneto? There is a story about a bad guy doing it for all of the right reasons. Really interesting conflicts are going to arise out of this movie.

I personally wish they’d do another X-Men film with more secondary characters like Colossus, Nightcrawler and Gambit! They are some of my favorite characters.

Would also like to see more villains like Apocalypse, Pyro and The Blob!

Oops, I meant to type Avalanche, Pyro and The Blob! They were often teamed up in the toon series. But, Apocalypse would be a great villain for a new film. Have The Angel get corrupted as The Arch Angel (“Death”).
