Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” series continues to sell like hotcakes at the bookstore. According to USA Today, the series has now taken the throne from the “Harry Potter” books for time spent at the top of the USA Today best-seller list.
USA Today‘s best-seller list finds novels from the popular vampire series holding four of the top ten spots on the list. And they’ve been entrenched there for a long period of time and according to reports show no signs of slowing down any time soon.
Helping the series is a new “special edition” of the fourth novel, “Breaking Dawn” hitting stores today along with the new softcover version of “Eclipse” and there’s a graphic novel version of “Twilight” in the works. The new “Dawn” special edition includes a CD of last summer’s concert tour and an interview with Meyer.
And with new movies on the horizon, the series could stay firmly on top of the best-seller list until 2010, USA Today predicts.
“The books continue to find new audiences,” says Carol Fitzgerald of BookReporter.com, “so sales can still roll on bigger and bigger. ”
Thankfully, when it comes to volume of books sold the Harry Potter series still leads that race.

The quality of Twilight is non-existent. The books are poorly-written, and get even worse with each volume. I still cannot believe the first one even got published, much less that she has “fans” who still read this drivel.
That is utterly depressing. Also says a lot about America’s readers. Tsk tsk!
