Friday night’s season finale of “Dollhouse” may well be the series finale.
Rumors persist that Fox is considering a renewal of the freshman drama. However, with ratings like the show got Friday, the odds may be dropping.
Friday’s episode, which saw the conclusion of the season-long arc about the mysterious Alpha, delivered a series-low rating of 2.76 million viewers according to TV Guide On-Line. The figure is overnights and hasn’t been adjusted for DVRs and time-shifted viewings so the final figures may be slightly higher. However, the show did drop 11 percent in audience share from last week.
According to reports, talks are underway between Fox and 20 Century Fox, looking for ways to cut costs and give the show a second season.
Majority of people that would watch DollHouse were at Star Trek Premiere. Was a bad night to run the Finale if using for rating.
This show lost me after the very first episode. I watched it, thought it was absolute crap, and never returned despite Fox begging and pleading.
I agree with SouthPaw, Star Trek premiere didn’t help. I really liked the finally and was very happy to see Alan Tudyk as Alpha.
I’d like to see them get a second season but I don’t see this as a series with a long run.
I think the “doll of the week” formula choice for some of the episodes this first season was disappointing. The ‘mythology’ episodes were fantastic, they should have skipped the cookie cutter plots and stuck with this instead. I hope FOX doesn’t axe it, I think it will grow into a great series if given the time.
Buffy sucked at first, monster of the week, etc. Joss picks up speed and people need to wait and be patient…. advise for FOX they dont apparently have patience regarding Joss productions. Too bad. I do think the best is yet to come….

I thought it was fine, not a home run though. Also got a bit preachy. Not that I disagreed with what they were saying, I just dislike preachy-anything shows.
Sadly, listening to comments and posters to various FPM outlets, many people have less patience than Fox, giving up after only one to episodes.
It’s funny how we rail on Fox for not giving shows a chance, yet it seems the problem is as much, if not more, on the fan side of things.
I gave up after four . . . coincidentally when I heard “the first six are not that good, but then it gets better”.
In fact, that was a big reason for me giving it up . . . I kept wondering why they want to make me watch the first six if they know they are not that good. It seemed disrespectful of my time, as if it’s not worth anything. I mean, that may be true, but it’s not their place to rub my nose in it.
I saw it as a matter of principle . . . but I’m strange that way.
I still don’t get why a company would millions into developing the ability to implant any memories and skills they want into people’s brains, and then go with a high priced call girl outfit as their primary business
But, the show did grow on me after a few episodes. Given that it was Fox, though, I’m surprised they ran the full 12.
