“Chuck” Fate Still Unknown

May 4, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

There are a lot of rumors swirling across the Internet this morning about the fate of NBC’s “Chuck.”

Several reports indicate a decision on the series may not be made today during NBC’s infront presentation.  Other reports indicate that the show has already been renewed, but NBC isn’t quite sure where or when to schedule the show (one report claims that the show would be moved to Sunday evenings and delayed until mid-season).

Reporter Nikki Finnke’s report about the fate of “Chuck” and two other NBC shows has drawn critical response from many across the Internet.    The report says the series has been renewed, but lists no sources that can confirm the story.  Meanwhile, E! On-Line reports that negotiations between NBC and Warner Brothers are continuing, with the big dispute being over the cost of the series.  E! also reports that we may not know anything for several more weeks on the show.

Reporter Rick Ellis says that he’s contacted someone close to “Chuck” and the only word he’s getting (as of last night), is that the show is “the decision is made” but it isn’t “100%”.”

So, where does this leave us?  I’m going to go with cautiously optimistic for the return of “Chuck.”  I’m not sure if there’s anything we can do that would make an impact short-term (if NBC announced the renewal today) like buying episode or two on i-Tunes or watching the season finale again on-line.  However, should the renewal announcement take a bit longer, we’ll bring you news of any fan efforts to get NBC’s attention…

Fingers crossed. While I’ve enjoyed a lost of TV shows over the years, this is probably the first one I’ve cared enough about that I’ll be truly disappointed if we don’t get a third season.
