Track Box Office Results On Your iPhone

March 11, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

You can instant message on your iPhone, Twitter on your iPhone and even discover if your friends and family are secretly Cylons.  The wide variety of applications available for your iPhone and iPod touch continues to grow almost hourly.

So, it was probably only a matter of time until there was an application to keep up with movies available for your iPhone and iPod Touch.  The new application, unveiled this week by Rentrak Corp allows users to keep up with box-office data.  For a one-time fee, users can follow domestic box office results as well as search info on movies.

The service is offered by Rentrak Theatrical Group through the newly launched FilmScope and FilmScope WorldWide, its first consumer applications.  Users can also follow international box-office results.

I’ve had an iPhone for about 6 months and love it! There are a few other TV/movie apps to consider. The first is i.TV. That’s the app name and their website! It’s a great app that gives you TV and movie listings, access to trailers for TV and movies, movie showtimes, and even access to your Netflix queue as well. If your focus is just movies then I’d recommend Flixster. When it comes to SciFi news we all know that you can’t beat Slice of SciFi but until they launch their own iPhone app we have SciFi Wire which gives you access to their headlines and videos. The great thing about three of these apps is that they are free!

I, too, love my iPod Touch. Music, video, podcasts, internet radio, ebooks, Facebook, banking, games, sports scores, you name it, there’s an app for it, and most of them are free. I even have apps that help me with grad school: scientific calculators, graphing programs, and unit conversions. All free.

And I was lucky enough to get a free 32GB Touch through work, so it was an even better upgrade…
