Christopher Nolan’s Next Project at Warner Brother Set

Christopher Nolan’s Next Project at Warner Brother Set

February 12, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Director Christopher Nolan has signed a new deal with Warner Brothers.

Unfortunately, it’s not to write and direct a sequel to “Dark Knight.”

Nolan has signed a deal to direct his own original screenplay, “Inception” for Warner Brothers.  “Inception” is described as “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind” and could be in theaters in the summer of 2010.

“Chris Nolan is a visionary filmmaker who continually raises the bar with each movie he makes,” Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said. “We are thrilled to be collaborating again with him and [production partner] Emma [Thomas], on this exciting new motion picture.”

Nolan has had  a successful relationship with Warner Brothers.  His movies for the studio have raked in huge box-office cash.   His string of hits includes the two Batman films, “The Prestige” and “Insomia.”

This news does mean that a sequel to “Dark Knight” will be pushed back until Nolan completes work on this film.

Fantastic! Christopher Nolan is one of my favourite filmmakers, not just for his Batman movies but for the stuff he did before and between them. So I’ll stand in line for whatever he puts out, even if it’s a sock puppet re-enactment of Tom Cruise’s morning routine.

He did the Prestige in-between Batman films, so it makes sense to let him step away from it, and play it that way again.
