In the News:

  • Professor Erno Rubik, the man who created the Rubik’s Cube, has created a new puzzle challenge for the new century.
  • A new survey by the Pew Internet and American Life Project found that nearly a quarter of Americans don’t have Internet access.  It also found that a third of those without access don’t care to log on to the information superhighway.
  • The latest feature from Google Earth allows you to go under the sea.

Krazy Joe’s Punch in the Junk:  It’s a very special Punch in the Junk by Joe this week.  The first offender to get punched twice is ABC.  This time, Joe is unhappy they’re remaking “V.”

Movie Talk:

  • J.J. Abrams’ says that “Star Trek” needs to step out of the shadow of “Star Wars” and looks at ways his new movie is trying to do that.
  • John Carpenter has signed to direct the pyschological thriller, “The Ward.”

Slice of Trivia: This week Kurt in St. George tests the studio crew and you with three new clips.

TV Talk: A new study finds that commericals help you enjoy TV more.  (Yes, but can they make “Knight Rider” a better show?)

Interview: Mike and Brian talk to Garen Daly about Boston’s upcoming Sci-Fi Film Fest, including a run down on what’s playing this year, the contests at the event and what fans can expect if you attend.  If you’re in or around the Boston area President’s Day weekend, you definitely want to get your tickets now for this special event.

In the Future:

  • Dan Simmons’ classic “Hyperion” novels are coming to a theater near you.
  • “Tron” and “Jason Bourne” will have new vid eo games when the next installments hit theaters.

Listener comments: If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know. Keep your comments brief, or funny, and maybe you’ll hear your message on the voicemail show! See you next week with fresh new content.

Actually the re-boot of Dragnet was pretty good, but ABC gave it a bad time slot, then in the second season changed the format. That’s what killed it. So yeah, ABC deserves the multiple junk punches.

    Hey Sam
Glad to hear Big Trouble in Little China getting the love.
I’ve always felt it deserved more.

    Hyperion the Movie!

Starring Keanu Reeves as the “Shrike” aka “Spiny Norman”.

Tim has it right , combining the first two books into one movie is a mistake. Read the award winning books and you will understand. The first book is a mini-series in itself. We can always hope for the best. Maybe they will cast Katee Sackhoff as Brawne Lamia …

    Great show as usual Slicers.

    Thanks
