“Fanboys” Only Opening on 44 Screens

“Fanboys” Only Opening on 44 Screens

February 6, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 11 Comments

If you’ve had this date circled on your calendar as the day you can finally go see the long-delayed “Fanboys,” you’d better hope you live near one of the few cities the movie is opening in today.  Otherwise, you can hope a lot of people go see it and encourage a larger release for the film or pre-order a copy on Amazon.

The odds are against the movie getting a larger release given that it has virtually no promotional push and is opening on a weekend packed with new releases.

Thank to Ain’t It Cool News, here’s a list of the cities and theaters you can see the film.

This list isn’t accurate. AMC lists it at 2 theatres near me that aren’t on this list. I’m dragging my husband and friends with me to see it this weekend.

Theater near me actually had Outlander showing for a couple of days. It’s a trade off that I can live with.

And, once again, Boston gets completely snubbed for a gazillion showings in New York. What is wrong with the distributors? Do they not realize that the enormous concentration of colleges up here creates a whole community of geekitude? We’ve got MIT, for crying out loud! I really want to see this movie, but it’s not quite worth the expense and the four-hour trip each way. :-\

Any word on international release? Oh who am I kidding, a film like this will most definitely NOT be coming over to Japan……Looks like I’ll be spending some time translating some fansubs, for a fan movie, for Japanese fans of Star Wars, because I’m a fan…..
