“Marley” is Top Dog at Box-Office

January 5, 2009 by Michael Hickerson   || Category: Film News

This weekend’s box-office totals looks very similar to last weekend’s totals.  The top spot for the weekend was held by “Marley and Me.”  The movie rang up $24 million in ticket sales, taking it past the $100 million mark.

Given the ending of the movie, it’s unlikely there will be a sequel but you can bet someone in Hollywood will give it a try.

In second place was Adam Sandler’s “Bedtime Stories,” with just over $20 million in ticket sales.  The Brad Pitt “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” was third with “Valkyrie” and “Yes Man” rounding out the top five.

Overall, box-office receipts totaled $150 million over for the first weekend of 2009.

We’ll have full box-office results later this week.
