Shame shame shame! How you could leave Arthur C. Clarke off this list is beyond me :-O.

You forgot Sir Arthur C. Clarke, the man who gave us “2001” and, after Isaac Asimov, gave us some of the most interesting science fiction books ever written and the man who gave us the communications satellite, without which the way we communicate would still be with heavy cables strung out all over the place and no satellite radio and possibly no hi-def tv.

Don’t ask me why I left him off. He was my favorite all-time author and was at the top of the list. Must have been a slip of the eye…or else I am still in denial over his being gone from us.

Shouldn’t Robert Aspirin also be on that list?

I have no doubt that there will be others who have died in 2008 that we missed on the list.

You know, looking back, it didn’t seem like that many had passed just this year…and let’s face it, that law of 3’s is totally bogus…

    Sad year.

It is sad to lose such amazing people

Time marches on and the cycle of life comes to an end

still hard to see these folk leave the planet

    Thank you for the list!

    Thank you for this list!
    Some corrections, though…

    Michael Crichton
Forrest J Ackerman (No period after J)
    Robert Prosky

Bernie Mac was a surprise for me. He was pretty young (in today’s terms) yet he died. I didn’t think he was working so hard to entertain us. I will miss him greatly.
