SciFi Green Lights “Caprica”

SciFi Green Lights “Caprica”

December 2, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

Here’s a little good news for “Galactica” fans.  According to SciFi Wire, SciFi has given the green light to the “Galactica” prequel “Caprica.”

The series, which will focus on the the Earthlike planet of Caprica as two rival families deal with, among other topical issues, the broader implications of their society’s emerging artificial intelligence technology sector, is scheduled to debut in 2010.

“Caprica” will star Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker and will be set 50 years prior to “Battlestar”‘s attack on human civilization by the Cylons.

“Caprica” will be executive-produced by Battlestar’s Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, along with Remi Aubuchon. The pilot was co-written by Aubuchon and Moore and directed by Jeffrey Reiner.   The pilot was a two-hour backdoor pilot for the network.

I hope Sci-Fi gives Caprica a chance because I fear that the ratings may not be high as Battlestar Galactica and Sci-Fi has a habit of cancelling shows quickley.

With the way the Scifi Channel has been rationing out eps of Galactica over the course of several YEARS, I’ll just wait for the DVDs once the series is complete…that is if Caprica isn’t more accurately Craprica.
