ABC cancels "Pushing Daisies," "Eli Stone"

ABC gave cancellation notices to “Pushing Daisies” and “Eli Stone” yesterday reports the Los Angeles Times.

The two series will not be picked up for a full second season and will end production after their thirteenth episodes.  ABC president Steve McPherson informed both series of their fate in phone calls yesterday.

“He was very complimentary and thanked everyone for putting their first foot forward,” “Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller said. “He never said we’re canceled but that was the gist of it. He said they’re proud of the show and not ordering episodes at this time. I could read between the lines and interpret that the door could be open in the future but I think that the gist of that is that we weren’t going to be moving forward on ABC.”

ABC plans to run all the produced episodes of each series before bringing them to an end.

Fuller acknowledge that everyone who worked on the show will begin looking for new jobs, which would make it hard for the “door to stay open.” He already has his next gig lined up: returning to “Heroes,” where he worked as a writer in the NBC show’s first season. He also has begun thinking about turning his sweet fairy tale into a movie.

“It’s hard not to be disappointed but I’m walking away with a stronger feeling of pride and gratitude,” Fuller said.

ABC also delivered pink slips for “Dirty Sexy Money.”

The alphabet network will shuffle its schedule in January.  As we previously reported, “Life on Mars” moves to Wednesday evenings following “Lost.”

I and my family LOVED ELI STONE!!!! I guess the big wigs at ABC just don't get it that we are all not interested in stupid shows like the Bachlor ect... I am so sick of so called reality shows, or shows that are poor remakes of shows from the 60's,70's.80's ect... You finally come up with an original show, something new, that keeps you guessing and you cancel it!!!!! How stupid can you be?? no wonder I stopped watching alot of shows on ABC, their all the same.

Come on people I know that we can do this. We can save Eli Stone. It isn't fair that that are airing 'Sonoma' in the UK first on MONDAY. We have do what we can to save Eli Stone. There are a lot of fans in the U.S that will not stand for this. Come on write in to ABC, blog about Eli Stone, do web videos, boycott the new ABC show, and petitions. There is a site that needs only 162 signatures left to reach their goal so they can send it in. Like they say in the opera 'It ain't over till the fat lady sings.' A lot of battle were won by people fighting for what they believe in. Like the orchid which needs delicate TLC Eli Stone probably needs delicate TLC. So if we put our minds to it we CAN save Eli Stone.

Eli Stone was one of the few shows I watched on ABC. You just lost another viewer.

  4. Daley says:

I really love Eli Stone and looked forward to watching it every week. I would like to see the remaining four shows in this season....all though I think it would be great if you could give it another season. The whole metaphysical slant to Eli's condition is a concept that is getting more and more popular, and I think the show just might have been a little ahead of its time. Please bring it back. Since you often show reruns of Desperate Housewives or Greys Anatomy on Fridays or Saturday evening, can't you fit the last 4 episodes on some of those slots?

  5. Dina says:

OMG this is so UNFAIR. It seem like everyone else gets to see the last episodes of Eli Stone but we have to wait till summer. It seems like there are plenty of extra time slots to put them in. ABC can't have a heart and try to put them on before summer PLEASE.

ABC you can't cancel Eli Stone now not when the world needs him the most at a time like this. You should do what Disney does they post their show on itunes before the show premieres then puts a price on it after it airs why can't you do that. It'll make everyone happy.

  7. Ambra Bertucci says:

Please do not cancel this great show. With all the other fluff on your channel (Dancing With the Stars, Wife Swap) you've managed to ruin one of the only intelligent shows on your network. Can't you see that we now hate the reality drivel you have on. I have always been a loyal ABC viewer but this takes the cake. NO MORE ABC FOR ME FROM NOW ON. PLEASE BRING BACK ELI STONE.

Eli Stone is the type of show that needs to build an audience. The time off between the seasons and 2 week break in between each episode was far too long for people. I know that if this show ran for another season and if ABC just had a longer vision for its programming in general it might succeed. The cast and writers are there. They do a fantastic job. What has not been there for ABC is a team of people that ignore ratings and give programming a chance to stick . I know many people are frustrated with the Network because they keep switching programs like diets and that never works. This show can be successful but they cannot have long breaks and they need to market the show I mean there like wasn't any promo for 'Two Ministers.' Please ABC give Eli Stone another chance.

I just saw online that they plan to air the remaining episodes of Pushing Daisies starting May 30th then the DVD will be released July 21st so it probably won’t be long until we get to see the last four Eli Stone episodes. In the mean time I remember last year they announced the fall schedule around May 12th. I don’t know when they will announce it this year but we have until then to try to convince ABC to reconsider canceling Eli Stone or we really need to keep writing into other networks to try and get them to pick up Eli Stone THE MOST AMAZING ONE OF A KIND SHOW OF ALL TIME.

  10. Nikki Leung says:

Eli Stone is a series that brings hope in a positive form, something sadly which is missing in today’s TV. In ‘doing the right thing’ we are forced to reflect on our own lives and interaction with others. Please keep this positive character alive! This show just got better & better and it deserves to go on as there is so much further to go. It is addictive. Humor & drama in the one show. There are other shows that have come back from the dead to be huge ongoing sucesses, let Eli Stone be another one. Everyone we have to do everything we can to save this series that brings hope in a positive form we have write into ABC, possibly write to other networks to ask them to pick this series up or sign petitions like this on here it only needs a 123 more so they can send it in http://www.thepetitionsite.com/4/save-eli-stone-a-show-that-is-addicting or this one http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?elistone so far it has 2397. I know we can do this we save Eli Stone once before and we will again.

  11. Wanda says:

We are all trying to get ABC to rerun Eli Stone in its entirety or reconsider its decision to cancel Eli Stone. If you really love this show, please help us and get involved with the fan community that is actively engaging ABC in trying to save the show. Signing petitions like these will help greatly, we have to keep writing into ABC and if not ABC then we have to try to get another network to pick this great show up, create web videos on you tube, boycott new shows. If we don't then Eli Stone will be lost forever. We saved Eli Stone before and we will again.

  12. Julliana Arocho says:

"Eli Stone" Excellent, Positive, heart warming, Life affirming, imaginative and so much more. I Love this show. Not only the Character "Eli" . this is a show where there is an attachment to every character. You like every character. I looked forward to watching. It was one of the very few network tv shows I would watch and Tivo. Then you wonder why people now go to cable or just watch dvd's. "Eli Stone" is a show that definately could stand the test of time if given the opportunity it deserves.

  13. Riley Smart says:

Tomorrow they announce the new fall schedule and we have until summer to know how the remaining Eli Stone episode do in the ratings. The only reason we got season to because so many fans wrote in. Steven McPherson himself blames it on the writer's strike last year. This year it it because of the economy. Well I am telling you now that we need shows like this in time like these so I am asking all of you now to help me/us save Eli Stone. We need to write to ABC or write to other networks asking them to pick up this series, sign petitions, there are a lot out there, make web videos. I know we can do this I believe we can we saved Eli once before and we will again.

  14. Carmilla Davidson says:

People who watched Eli Stone enjoyed it. It was different, it was wholesome, it was inspirational, and most of all it was entertaining. Shows of this quality and content don't exist anymore. Shows like this are victims of flawed evaluation system, time slot fluctuations and insufficient marketing. There is nothing like Eli Stone on TV, so few programs aside from reality TV can be enjoyed by entire families. There maybe shows I love more, but none that I would fight harder to support than Eli Stone because of the heart and pure quality it brings to the table.

  15. N.C. Holmes says:

Please bring this show back! It's one of the only family shows left on tv and demonstrates the positive message of helping others. If NBC listened and brought back CHUCK to their fans, can't ABC do the same? You'll see how many fans the show has when the last 4 episodes air in June. Please reconsider...

  16. StPattygirl says:

I miss Eli Stone! Bring it back!

  17. Zoey B. says:

Please ABC don't cancel Eli Stone

  18. Freida Sears says:

Eli Stone is a compelling show which touches your heart string. It should not be canceled. The producers can appeal to another network to buy the copyright. It will be money worth invested.

  19. Darla Addams says:

Come on everyone I know that we can save Eli Stone we did it before and we will again. They are going to start airing the final four episode on Saturday. We need to tell everyone that it is on because I did not see a promo for it after the Pushing Daisies finale. We need to keep writing to the network or write to other networks to ask them to pick this heartwarming series that sends a positive message up. Also create web video pledging our support for Eli Stone. Come on like I said before we saved Eli Stone before and we will again.
