“Captain America,” “Oldboy” close to signing writers

Two upcoming big-screen adapatations are close to signing writers according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely are reported to be in final negotations to write the screenplay for the upcoming “The First Avenger: Captain America.”   Joe Johnston has previously been announced as the director.

Markus and McFeely adapted the first two Narnia novels for the big-screen.

Mark Protosevich is negotiating to write the live action version of “Oldboy.”  If finalized, the movie would be a reunion of sorts for Petrosevich and actor Will Smith.  Petrosevich wrote the screenplay for Smith’s “I Am Legend.”

    The original version of Oldboy was live-action too. I’ve seen it, so I say that with some authority. If an animated version actually exists, I have yet to be shown it, yet twice now on this site it gets referred to eitehr explicity or implicity as an anime.

    Oldboy was originally a Japanese manga before the Korean movie was made, this will be the second live action version.
