TiVO to offer Disney movies on demand

October 23, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

TiVo is taking the next step in offering on-demand content to subscribers.

New deals with CinemaNow and Jaman will allow TiVo to offer subscribers more on-demand and pay-per-view options according to the Hollywood Reporter.  The big win for TiVo is the deal with Cinema

Now will allow the company to offer viewers movies from Disney Studios.

CinemaNow rents movies for from $2.99 and includes such titles as “Dumbo,” “The Fox and the Hound” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.”

Jaman’s contribution includes independent titles as “Super Size Me” and “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.” Jaman titles will rent movies starting  $1.99, with some short films and more obscure titles being offered for free.

“Our goal is to offer unlimited media content through one device with one easy-to-use interface, and these partnerships ensure that vision has become reality,” TiVo GM of content services Tara Maitra said.

TiVo users have previously been able to receive content from Amazon’s popular UnBox service.  However, Disney wasn’t a part of the deal with Amazon.  With the new deals, TiVo can offer movies from all the major studios through a combination of Amazon VOD and CinemaNow.

I know you made this post in October 2008, but has TiVo gone through with putting Disney movies on demand? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it, your site was the only one?

    Thanks,
    Peter
