3rd Annual New York Television Festival Goo-goo for SF

3rd Annual New York Television Festival Goo-goo for SF

August 22, 2008 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

Many of the new SF and genre-related shows will get worldwide attention at this years New York Television Festival.

Some of the more prominent programs will get the majority of attention, shows like J.J. Abrams’ highly anticipated Fox SF thriller “Fringe,” and the ABC remake of the popular British series “Life On Mars.”

While these two particular shows will garner most of the attention, other genre television shows will also be front-and-center like the debut for the second season of the Emmy nominated show from ABC, “Pushing Daisies,” Fox’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” fan-fave and non-SF show “Life” is being featured at the festival and gets its sophomore debut on NBC when the new season begins,” newcomers “Dollhouse” from Joss Whedon, again back working at Fox, and the Christian Slater spy drama “My Own Worst Enemy” for NBC.

Of course there will be non-SF entries, but….who cares!

“It’s good for the networks for a couple of reasons,” Terence Gray, the festival creator said. “They’re seeing an audience reaction and getting some feedback on the additional selections. It’s a place for all kinds of great television minds to come together.”

The screenings will take place September 12-17, just one week before the official start of the 2008-09 season. The annual event is being held this year at the New World Stages in midtown Manhattan-New York City.

I’m really glad Life and Pushing Daisies are coming back. Those were a great Wed combo.
