“Maximum Ride” Flys Into Theaters

“Maximum Ride” Flys Into Theaters

August 8, 2008 By Sam Sloan 22 Comments

Columbia Pictures will be producing a big screen version of the James Patterson YA novel “Maximum Ride.” Patterson will release the fifth novel in the series in 2009.

Story centers around six kids who have been genetically altered so that their DNA is now 98% human and 2% bird. They have been bred to fly and use their abilities to escape a lab-rat existence. Their creators hunt after them with a pack of Erasers, genetically altered children who have are part human and part wolf.

Scribe Don Payne (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,” “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”) will adapt the novel for film.

Well, here’s hoping two things: a) the 5th MR book is better than the 4th was, and b) the screenwriter does a better job than he did with Rise of the Silver Surfer. (Okay, the latter wasn’t *too* bad, but still…it could’ve been *so* much better!)

man i can’t wait when the movie comes out i just hope that they do not do a bad job on the film because it will ruin the rep that James Patterson had put forward for the great books and second of all i hope that the 5th book is the best of all but of course not the last the would be so stink

I LOVE these books, although the fourth one wasn’t that great. After reading the first page to “The Angel Experiment, I knew it would make a good movie. SO exciting!
