Morgan Freeman In Serious Condition

Morgan Freeman In Serious Condition

August 4, 2008 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

The great Oscar winning actor, Morgan Freeman (“The Dark Knight,” “Wanted,” “Deep Impact”), is listed in serious condition at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee after a severe auto accident late Sunday night.

The accident took place in a rural section of Tallahatchie County in the Mississippi Delta on a desolate area of road on highway 32 just a few miles from Freeman’s home, according to a spokesperson from the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

Currently there are few details available about the cause of the mishap, but a local reporter indicated that Freeman’s car was airborne by the time it drove off the road and crashed in a nearby ditch.

“They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle,” the reporter said. “He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”

Freeman even was able to joke around with the assembled crowed of rubber-neckers and when some tried to snap cell phone photos, he laughed at them saying, “No freebies, no freebies.”

Fortunately, the Memphis Regional Medical Center isn’t that far away from the scene of the accident and is equipped for such cases and is rated as a top-notch Acute-Care Center.

We will keep you posted as reports of Freeman’s condition come out of the hospital.

That’ll teach him not to take the Batpod out instead of some old car.
