300 follow-up confirmed

300 follow-up confirmed

June 30, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 6 Comments

Legendary Pictures has confirmed that a follow-up to last year’s hit movie 300 is in the works according to Variety.   Frank Miller is penning the script and original 300 director Zach Snyder (who is currently working on editing next year’s Watchmen) is interested in the director’s chair.

No word yet on if the movie would be a sequel or a prequel to the events shown in the original epic.

Miller is writing the graphic novel the project will be based upon. Most of the characters, including Gerald Butler’s King Leonidas, died in the original, making a follow-up tricky.

Snyder won’t officially commit until after he sees Miller’s take, but he’s definitely interested, and the prospect of his involvement already has fanboys in a tizzy.

“The vision of Frank Miller’s universe that Zack Snyder brought to the screen in 300 is unlike anything ever seen before,” said Legendary president Thomas Tull. “We want to be certain that the story originates with Frank and be as compelling as the first.”

300′s follow-up is only one of serveral sequels set to take place in the toga and sandals genre.  A re-imagined Clash of the Titans is also in development.

But the all died! Oops spoiler. They all die taking on the biggest evillest empire at the time. There is no other story they could do as a prequel that is as big. It would be like doing a prequel to D-Day called the The Logistical Preparations in England. Yawn.

Re-imagining The Clash Of The Titans? Man, can’t they leave well enough alone. One of the first movies with boobies for me too.

The return of the 300´s. The Allies in WW1 have summon them back from beyond the grave to fight in the trenches in France.

This time they have to face Evil Nazis that is traveling back in time to change the outcoming of WW1.

That would be a movie to watch. And the Persian is returning as Zombies too.

    Kenneth,

They’re making that movie. It’s called “The Arena”, and Slice of Sci-Fi reported on it.

I was one of the few who actually voiced that it could be good, if done well.

    Deven,
I read and heard about it too. But I think that this is a movie that definetyly not should be made.

I can handle it if they make a real swords and sandals movie in the spirit of Hercules and other italian movies, but if they just trying to make prequel or a sequel then it will be doomed.

I loved the 300 movie but can´t understand why there has to be a sequel. Can´t Frank Miller just focus on the Spirit Movie. That is a movie that I am looking forward to because Will Eisners comics is one of my all time favorit.
