VH1 Searching For the Next Scream Queen

June 10, 2008 By S. K. Sloan 2 Comments

The VH1 cable network is looking to find the next scream queen when it launches its new series titled “Scream Queens” set to debut this fall.

The series will showcase ten unknown actresses to compete for a “major” role in a horror movie from Lionsgate Films. The “reality-based” program will have contestants taking on a variety of challenges designed to test their screaming skills. Each will also get some acting training from acclaimed acting coach John Homa.

Sitting on the judges panel will be a director (yet to be named) from the Lionsgate Studio.

“Horror films have dominated the pop culture landscape for decades and along the way have produced some of the biggest names in Hollywood,” said Jeff Olde, VH1’s executive vice president original programming and production.

Some past scream queens made quite a name for themselves in the industry and did pretty well financially as well. Three of the most famous being Janet Leigh (“Psycho”), Janet’s daughter Jamie Lee Curtis (“Halloween”) and Simone Simon (“Cat People”).
