U.S. Theaters cancel Postal

U.S. Theaters cancel Postal

May 19, 2008 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Director Uwe Boll’s latest film Postal was scheduled to take on the legendary Dr. Jones this weekend at the box-office.

That battle won’t happen.

According to Cinema Blend, U.S. distributors have dropped the film from opening this weekend in favor of having more screens featuring Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The movie is still set to open on four screens and Boll is reported to have tried to purchase more theaters to run his self-proclaimed “masterpiece” this weekend. Unfortunately for Boll (and maybe fortunately for us), the theaters declined to take Boll’s offer.

“Theatrical distributors are boycotting Postal because of its political content,” Boll said. “We were prepared to open on 1500 screens all across America on May 23rd. Any multiplex in the U.S. should have space for us, but they’re afraid.”

No word yet on if Postal may be rescheduled for wide release in the United States or if Mr. Boll’s fans will have to wait for the DVD release.

Are you sure they’re not boycotting the movie because of who the director is?

Yes, the part about Mr. Boll’s fan was meant to be humorous.
