In the News:

  • Television viewers can expect to see more animation coming to Fox over the next several years after the network’s announcement this week that it is launching two new departments dedicated to the development of new toon products.
  • SCI-FI to SCI-FACT: Powerset has a new software technology that well could be the precursor to the Star Trek computer or, worse case scenario — a Skynet central brain.
  • From the International News Desk comes news from Japan of more film companies jumping into the online streaming service and a new superhero movie coming out of South Korea.
  • Movie Talk:

  • There is far too much excitement in theaters for one month to handle. Not only the recently box office blockbuster “Iron Man,” which has already debuted, but this weekend’s “Prince Caspian,” but most importantly, the highly anticipated premiere of the Lucas/Spielberg/Ford production of “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
  • “Wanted” is a Timur Bekmambetov film based on Mark Millar’s graphic novel series and tells the tale of one apathetic nobody named Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) who is soon transformed into this grand enforcer of justice.
  • TV Talk:

  • Love will be in the air when SCI FI Channel’s popular series “Eureka” returns this summer. Sheriff Jack Carter finally gets a love-life. One other surprise character will also find romance in the small town full of nerds, geeks and off-the-chart smart folk.
  • The four major networks – ABC, CBS, CW, NBC and Fox have finished their upfronts for the 2008-2009 season and we have a quick rundown of what you can expect to see in new SF and genre-related programming. We also look at which shows return and which got axed.
  • Interview: The beautiful Chase Masterson and director James Kerwin join us to give fans an update about their award-winning film “Yesterday Was A Lie,” in which Chase not only stars but is also the producer.

    Future Talk:

  • After a two year delay, “Witchblade” finally will be coming to the big screen. Top Cow Comics is allowing Platinum Studios, Arclight Films and Universal Pictures to bring the highly popular comic book series to theaters. Production is set to start this coming September.
  • Timur Bekmambetov is back again to helm another interesting film about knights, the middle ages, castles, vampires and holy relics called “The Knights Templar.”
