“Iron Man” Blows Away Box Office Returns

“Iron Man” Blows Away Box Office Returns

May 5, 2008 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

Director Jon Favreau has himself a huge box office blockbuster with “Iron Man” starring Robert Downey Jr., Jeff Bridges, Gwenyth Paltrow and Terrance Howard.

Everyone knew this film would do well but no one was prepared for the kinds of numbers it actually netted for its opening three-day weekend premiere.

In the United States alone it now looks like “Iron Man” has garnered a nice tidy sum coming to around $104.3 million, making it the first 2008 mega-film of the summer season. The movie is expected to do as well, of not better, on the international market.

Of course, “Iron Man” ranked number one in the top ten domestic films of the weekend. We will bring you a full listing of the Top Ten Weekend Films on Tuesday.
