Press Release

GHOST HUNTERS Season 4 Premieres Wednesday, March 5 @ 9 PM ET

In October 2004, SCI FI introduced Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson—plumbers by day, Ghost Hunters by night! Jason and Grant head up TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society), a close-knit organization of volunteer paranormal researchers -– ordinary people who investigate and attempt to debunk claims of otherworldly activity. In their investigations all over the U.S. and Europe, these self-proclaimed skeptics have managed to expose some of the most frighteningly compelling evidence of paranormal phenomenon ever seen on television! Throughout its run, Ghost Hunters has featured speaking entities, mysteriously moving furniture, ghostly visages and a healthy dose of squabbling within the investigating team. Being scared has never been so much fun!

Ghost Hunters will premiere its fourth season in March as one of cable’s hottest shows. Enjoying record-high ratings throughout its run, the series celebrated its best season ever in Fall 2007, culminating in the record-breaking special on Halloween, Ghost Hunters Live. With a 2.1 Household rating and over 2.8 million viewers from 9-11pm, Ghost Hunters Live was the most-watched cable program for Adults 25-54, ranked second for Adults 18-49 and drove SCI FI to its best Wednesday prime performance in the 18-49 demographic since 2002 (the miniseries “Taken”).

Ghost Hunters is also very successful with young female viewers – on average, the Fall 2007 season outperformed new episodes of CW’s “Gossip Girl” in over the same 6-week period in Adults 25-54, and the recent Halloween special attracted the Channel’s second-best night ever with Women 18-49.

EPISODE 401 – “FORT MIFFLIN” Premieres Wednesday, March 5 @ 9 PM ET

The new season kicks off with a harrowing investigation of the legendary Fort Mifflin in Philadelphia, once the site of bloody battles in both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. Today, both visitors and employees of the Fort tell chilling tales of their brushes with the afterlife. Some claim to have seen apparitions of soldiers, while others report hearing a woman’s terrified scream coming from an empty room. Now, the TAPS team has the opportunity to conduct the first investigation into newly discovered Casemate 11, an underground holding cell for those condemned to hang. There, Jason and Grant experience a bizarre series of events and uncover some of the show’s most compelling paranormal evidence to date.

It would be nice if you folks stressed the fiction part of SciFi when promoting Ghost Hunters. While the program does fall within the realm of science fiction as it is fiction, I take issue with the performers and producers coughing it as science. Please either have an article from a skeptical perspective alongside or do not promote this show at all. Check out this excellent debunking of TAPS: http://www.skeptic.com/eskeptic/06-08-10.html

It is both science and fiction. Science in that they use a lot of cool gadgets (that don’t necessarily really do anything) and fiction, in that….ah….the rest of the show’s time. 😉

It’s a frickin’ entertainment television show. I can’t get too worked up over its scientific merits, or lack thereof.

Gotta agree with Sam here. No one is promoting this as gospel truth, and this is a site about entertainment and discussion thereof. Frankly, Chad, I think you’re pushing more of an agenda than anyone here.

I understand your frustration, Chad. My bet is that guys running around pretending to find signs of ghosts is really cheap to produce but it only works if they dress it up to look legitimate. The sci-fi channel site does have a place for feedback. I get much more frustrated when the mainstream news media does fluff pieces about ghosts and UFOs but fail to follow up when the ghost turns out to be a lady bug and the UFO turns out to be a stock of corn in the wind.

There is a Place in St. Louis Missouri Called zombie road. there is alot of crazy stuff that goes on down there and is full of ghost there used to be an old mental hospital there in the 20s and 30s. There isn’t really zombies just ghosts. The name came from a man who escaped the hospital and was never seen again

Ghost hunters is a pretty cool show and done intelligently as apposed to that soooooooo obviously fake Most Haunted series. In my opinion, Ghost hunters uses thier instruments wisely and don’t proclaim every little sound or sight to be a ghost. This to me makes them trustworthy in thier hunts and therefore do not insult my or thier viewers intelligence. Of course there may be a little fright thrown in for show, after all it is a tv show. So, for me, ghost hunters kicks butt out of all the ghost shows out there!

I agree with gstmist 100% and you also have to look at the fact that unlike most ghost hunting crews TAPS goes in to Disprove a haunting not say HEY i just heard something this place must be haunted!!! But this day and age there are so many diff. ghost hunter wannabes both on tv and on the internet that sometimes you just dont know wich can be believed , however i strongly beleive TAPS is the real deal…

I know your main focus is to go in an debunk all the claims and there are times when that isn’t possible. I wonder if you couldn’t include a physic to your team and see what kind of evidence you could gather.

Also you time want to add time stamps to the program. When you interviewed the client, when you set the equipement, when you started and stopped the investigation. I know that the program is two separate locations of a 30 minute spot and HOURs have been condenced, but sometimes it seems rushed. Maybe the time stamp might help.

    Just a suggestion.

Well, reading all the letters/ comments about Ghost Hunters / Taps . I know there are alot of people that don’t believe in spirits or much of anything else . But you shouldn’t put others down for that. I know there are spirits out here even if you don’t think there are. There are people that can see them an some that can talk to them an some that can help them move on to the other side or Heaven or what ever your belief is. when Jason & Grant was at the base at the one building they had a flash light an it turned on well my one son and I were watching an we saw something no one on the show saw a hand reach for the flash light an it turned on. I don’t care if you believe me or not I know what we saw an J & G both know they didn’t turn it on. And there teams all do Darn Great , We raise our hands to you all . In belief in what you do. You are all great at it .

I agree with Sam. Its just popcorn fun, like Trans (Megan Fox) formers. That you people go on and on about. Just have fun with it and don’t look that close at the guy behind the curtain.
