Slice of SciFi #146: Interview with Save Journeyman Team

February 2, 2008 By Summer Brooks 6 Comments

In The News:

  • Humankind is on the verge of doing something incredible and only thought possible in the world of science fiction — create a synthetic life form.
  • Shout! Factory, an indie DVD supplier of mostly cult films and TV programming, has acquired exclusive home entertainment and digital download rights to the cult TV series “Mystery Science Theater 3000.”
  • It looks like director Sam Raimi is out of the Shire and Guillermo del Toro is in to helm the two “The Hobbit” films for New Line and Peter Jackson.

Movie Talk:

  • Monty Python veteran John Cleese is in negotiations to join the cast of Fox’s remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic “The Day the Earth Stood Still.”
  • “Fanboys” has been long on promise and short on delivery, but the latest from screenwriter Ernest Cline is the film about every Star Wars fan’s dream will be out… soon in 2008.

Special Segment: Michael R. Mennenga sat down with director/actor Tim Russ at last weekend’s Phoenix Cactus Comic Con. Tim gives our fans the latest update about his new online miniseries called “Star Trek of Gods and Men.” Part I is already available for viewing on the Web and Tim tells us when to look for Parts II & III.

TV Talk:

  • “LOST” is back with a real bang. We ask the probing questions concerning the real fate of Charlie, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Desmond and Hurley. No real spoilers here for those who missed last Thursdays return episode, but we do come close.
  • The new J.J. Abrams FOX TV SF drama called “Fringe” has nabbed two high profile actors. One of them is slated as one of the three leads in the show.

journeymancastfour.jpgInterview:Our guests are some of those fine folks who are working industriously to save “Journeyman,” the NBC show that the network failed to pick up after it aired 13 episodes. On hand for the interview are Njdeh from Journeyman Fansite, Todd of the Save Journeyman.net and Troy Price from the Journeyman Podcast. Each explains how and why they felt so strongly about keeping “Journeyman” on the air and offer fans some good tips on what they can do to get involved.

Future Talk: Just when everyone thought the new “G.I. Joe” movie would end up as a total casting failure, comes news that a big name with real box office clout has finally been attached to the project.

Listener comments: If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know. Keep your comments brief, or funny, and maybe you’ll hear your message on the voicemail show! See you next week with fresh new content.

The Flim Crew link is spelled wrong. Just add an “l” to the word “fim” and it will work.

By the way, I like the “with boobs” idea. Think of all the other TV show titles it could work with!

    Heroes With Boobs
    Lost With Boobs
    Pushing Daisies With Boobs
    Eureka With Boobs
    Jericho With Boobs
    Journey With Man Boobs
    Bionic Woman With More Boobs
    Medium With Less Boobs
    Deal or no Boobs
    etc…

I think it is great that you are including a Journeyman related interview on your weekly podcasts, and I hope you can make it a weekly occurrence until the show is contracted for more episodes.
    Toodles~

Oh and Silent Running the Bruce Dern character killed himself at the end as a rescue team from Earth had caught up with him.

Mike kept saying that he saw the trailer for ‘G.I. Joe’ – what’s he talking about? They haven’t even finished casting, as far as I know there is no kind of trailer for this movie.

There isn’t. That was a MRM slip of the tongue. 😉

Yeah… sorry. Not trailer. Promotional material that was sent from studio.

    My bad.
