Chow Yun-Fat Joins “Dragonball”

chow_yun-fat.jpgAccording to The Hollywood Reporter Chinese superstar Chow Yun-Fat has signed on to the new live-action James Wong film “Dragonball,” elevating the production to blockbuster status.

Fat will star as Master Roshi, the mentor for Goku (Justin Chatwin) in this film adaptation of the original anime/manga series. To learn more about this imaginative series and the history behind its fascinating characters go to the Dragonball Official Website.

The main storyline centers on a young warrior destined to protect the Earth from human and alien bad guys lead by the villainous Piccolo who desires to dominate the universe by controlling the seven mystical objects known as Dragon Balls. Goku must find the dragon balls before Piccolo and sets out on an adventurous journey with his Master to uncover them and their powerful secret.

Besides Fat and Chatwin, the cast also includes James Marsters, Emmy Rossum and Jamie Chung.

“Dragonball” is set for an August 15, 2008 theatrical release.
