“Tin Man” Is Ratings Winner

December 4, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

tinman.jpgSCI FI Channel’s new miniseries, “Tin Man,” which debuted Sunday, December 2 was the most-watched program in the channel’s history. The first episode in the miniseries garnered greater than 6.3 million viewers. Those are huge numbers for a channel geared for a niche audience.

The first night of the three-night series, based on L. Frank Baum’s “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” also delivered the channel’s best audiences in key demographics, including adults aged 25-54 and adults aged 18-49, according to SCI FI Wire.

The miniseries also delivered better ratings than SCI FI’s previous miniseries, including the Emmy-winning Steven Spielberg Presents Taken. “Tin Man” airs its last episode tonight at 9PM ET/PT.

Be sure to watch for our exclusive Website interview later today with “Tin Man” star Raoul Trujillo, who portrays the lion Raw in the miniseries.

I like it. I have even been watching the reruns the next night.
The first night it felt like some of the scenes were rushed or cut off; and some of the music make me feel like I’m watching Harry Potter.
SciFi should run it straight through on Christmas Eve.

I can only give it a C. The visuals were stunning. Some of the performances were good, some not so good. I blame the writing because the dialog felt flat to me. I just wasn’t moved by the story. It wasn’t horrible, it certainly wasn’t great, it was just so-so.

The only part of Tin Man that I really hated was the score. Jeffryloaf said it reminded him of Harry Potter. That could be part of the problem but I also found it to be terribly repetitive and not very interesting.

Nice spin on the characters and great job of keeping each character involved. Great family mini and those are very hard to find.

I agree with jeffreyloaf, run it straight through on X-mas Eve.
