It all starts tomorrow. The return of some favorites and a fall season premiere of many new sci-fi and genre-related shows has finally begun. This will be a landmark year for sci-fi on TV and if the show’s are written and performed well, and fans stick with them, there could be a lot more to come in the future.
On Monday NBC hails it new SciFi Monday with the return of “Heroes” and the introduction of two of its new SF series “Chuck” and “Journeyman.” CBS will try to compete against “Heroes” with its comedy addition “The Big Bang Theory.”
Tuesday on the SCI FI Channel, one of the best SF shows is still airing new episodes. “Eureka,” the town full of geniuses where anything can and does happen, sees a microbe change everything to gold. What might appear as a blessing on the surface is really just a 24-carat disaster. ABC’s “Cavemen” will try to unseat ratings champ “Eureka” with its big premiere. “The Dead Zone” has completed its sixth season, however, the USA Network will rewind the season beginning tonight, so if you missed any of Johnny’s paranormal feats this summer, you can now catch up.
Wednesday will prove to be the next big weeknight of SF television viewing as NBC premieres the “Bionic Woman” and ABC launches the highly anticipated “Pushing Daises” (next week). The “Ghosthunters” returns on SCI FI Channel, as well as the return of Matthew Fox’s pre-“Lost” series “Haunted.”
Thursday night this week proves to be a very slow one for SF fans. The SCI FI Channel plans on re-airing the NBC pilot of “Journeyman” every Thursday, so if you happen to miss it Mondays on NBC you can catch it on this night at the NBC Universal owned SCI FI Channel.
Now to the recognized biggest night of sci-fi television….Friday. This premiere week will see Jennifer Love Hewitt return in her Emmy Award nominated show “Ghost Whisperer on CBS. Season 3 of “Doctor Who” continues on the SCI FI Channel along with the return of “Stargate: Atlantis” for is important fourth season which will bring Amanda Tapping reprising her role of Colonel Samantha Carter to the station. And, “Flash Gordon” continues. It won’t continue long as the channel has axed the show after the conclusion of its dismal first season. “Moonlight,” the show about a vampire cop follows “Ghost Whisperer” with its debut on CBS.
We close out this premiere week on Saturday with NBC showing a repeat of the “Chuck” pilot and a “Heroes” special called “Hereos: Four Months Later.” CBS will counter by re-airing its pilot episode of “Moonlight.”
Pushing Daisies doesn’t premiere unit next week (10/3) so ABC can bloat up Dancing With the Stars its first week.
You’ve also got the season premier of CW’s “Smallville” on Thursday. “Supernatural”s season premier is next week.

Oh, I forgot about the premier of CW’s “Reaper” on Tuesday night. It’s about a guy whose parents sold his soul to the devil. On his 21st birthday, the devil claims it and makes him a reaper, which he has to balance with his “normal” life.
I’m really looking forward to Big Bang Theory tonight. The reviews I’ve seen have been good too!! I need more funny in my life.
For some reason, everyone at this site forgets that The CW even exists. As Mark said, there are three SF series, one which is new. There’s “Reaper”, which starts Sept. 25th (that’s today), “Smallville”, which starts its 7th season Sept. 27th, and “Supernatural”, which starts its 3rd season Oct. 4th.
