Prix Aurora Nominees

September 10, 2007 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Association (Association canadienne de la science-fiction et du fantastique), Canada’s contribution to the realm of sci-fi and genre-related fields, gets the nod on October 19-21 during the VCON-32.

logo_2×2.gifThe Prix Aurora Awards are closest to the style of the Hugo awards (which are presented by the SF Worldcon) in the method by which they are selected. First there is a nomination phase to select a short list. Then a voting phase to pick the winner from the short list using the Australian voting method (this method has the voter rank their choices in each category). Each year a different convention or group has hosted the awards.

Here is a list of this year’s nominees:

The short work (English) category has 2 of my favorite writers, James Alan Gardner and Robert J. Sawyer. I’d kinda like Gardner to win because I don’t think he gets enough respect, and Sawyer has won before. For Long Form it’s “Blindsight” all the way! What a great work!

Thanks for digging this up for us, Sam.
