Robert Picardo Visits Slice of SciFi for Show #120 – August 4, 2007

August 2, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

The wonderful Robert Picardo talks with us, taking time away from his hectic Comic Con schedule, and shares with us the news about his upcoming charity/auction/dinner event that he hosts in Las Vegas on August 12, 2007.

Robert also shares with us some great news concerning the future of his much loved character from Stargate SG-1, Mr. Richard Woolsey. Robert reminds us that this character didn’t start out being loved, but eventually mellowed and became a friend of the Stargate program and not its enemy.

Some of Robert’s future projects include voice work on the scifi animated adventure film “Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey” where he shares voice duties with John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, the great James Earl Jones and many other find actors. He just wrapped on the movie “P.J.” a drama starring “Battlestar Galactica” alum John Heard and Vincent Pastore of “The Sopranos” fame.

Keeping very busy on and off the soundstage with cons, charity events and other important functions, Robert will also be seen in two other films yet-to-be-released. One is the action comedy “Ben 10: The Movie” and the other is “Universal Signs” where he will star alongside everyone’s favorite Lois Lane — Margot Kidder.

In the News:

Our news segment this show is all about last weekend’s Comic Con and some of the tidbits that came out of that history making event…for instance — TV genre shows made the biggest splash at this year’s Con. A mysterious crate surrounded by security guards revealed a secret for all attendees. And, actor Edward Norton became overwhelmed by fan response to him going to play Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the big green baddie’s next film.

Movie Talk:

Excalibur meets Caesar in “The Last Legion,” a fantasy action-adventure that follows the beginnings of the legend of the ancient mystical sword.

We have a full update from Sir Ridley Scott on his announced re-release of “Blade Runner” on DVD later this year. We tell you all the goodies to expect on this one.

TV Talk:

Eli Stone is a lawyer with a vision that is making a p-r-o-p-h-e-t for his firm and Kevin McKidd hits his stride in NBC’s “Journeyman.”

Future Talk:

The crystal ball is very clear this week and we have laid to rest the rumor that Star Trek XI will come out December 2008. In fact, the rumor was true. JJ Abrams announced that he was able to get the much coveted date of December 25, 2008 for the release of this eleventh film in the Star Trek franchise.

82-year old Mel Brooks is back and in perfect form for his release of “Spaceballs: The Animated Series due for release this Fall on the G4-TV Cable network.

We also have news about our current “Fallen” contest and tell you how to get your entry in for that one. We’ve got Robert Picardo, all this great news and information and best of all — IT’S ALL FREE! So, on August 4th download the show and listen to Slice of SciFi #120 for one hour of pure fun and enjoyment — and you get some education in the process….SWEET!
