Commercial Actor Will Join Sitcom

July 27, 2007 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

jeff.jpgmk-ai815a_cavem_20070304202844.jpgJoe Lawson, the guy behind those ingenius Caveman Geico commercials and producer of the new show that will showcase them, indicated that it was the network’s desire to get all the original actors from those commercials to be cast members for the new sitcom he created that revolves around them. However, two of the actors featured in the ads were [contractually] unavailable for the series, but another, Jeff Daniel Phillips, will be joining the series.

The sitcom, appropriately called “Cavemen,” will center around three specific cavemen living and trying to fit in to modern 21st Century surroundings. These Cro-Magnons , like those in the commercials, are actually quite adept, able and intelligent, but because of their looks, they are perceived as less proficient in dealing with society than the typical homosapiens that surround them. This stereo-typical behavior on the part of modern humans is the crux of the series, as well as the comedy that would surround any group of characters trying to fit in.

Besides original caveman actor Jeff Phillips, the sitcom will feature Bill English, Sam Huntington and Nick Kroll. Look for “Cavemen” this fall on ABC.

I’ve seen the first episode. All I could make myself watch was 7mins. The world dosen’t need a half hour of racial clecheys.even if they are “cave men”. I wish it was on fox so it would go away after 3 episodes.
