Imagine Pictures seeks Alicia Keys to voice Princess Zya

July 19, 2007 By Sam Sloan 4 Comments

princesszya02.jpgakeysaid.jpgChicago, Illinois – Imagine Pictures made initial contact with Alicia Keys’ managment company, MBK Entertainment to solicit her involvement in the animated film, The African Princess.

All over the country people are talking about this groundbreaking animated film. Imagine Pictures believes Alicia Keys embodies the soul and spirit that translates the strength and character of Princess Zya.

With multiple invitations to film festivals across the country, excitement for the release of this film is building. Emails, blogs and conversations are multiplying and support is pouring in.

“What a beautiful and enriching tale for the whole family that fosters self-esteem in youth, and especially African American youth of today. There is no doubt in my mind, that The African Princess will go on to be one of the most sought animated films…of the century,” one supporter wrote.

This film will be great for my son and daughter. The African Princess simply gets it. Walt Disney had no agenda to address the African American culture until they got wind of Imagine Picture Group. How sad that when they heard and saw this amazing production and storyline, they immediately changed their characters name from Maddy to Tiana and story plot. My family will be standing in line waiting for Princess Zya and “The African Princess”.

I absolutely support this idea. I think it would be amazing for The African Princess to finally come out and show that all heroes and heroines comes in all colors and backgrounds. I do hope that Alicia will do an amazing job with this…no, I KNOW she will. Please us updated, and Alicia, best of luck! ^_~v

It’s about time we have an African movie that is animated. By the time I have kids, I though I would have to make one myself. If we were waiting for Disney it probably would have took longer seeing as though they have to get all other races as princess before they acknowlege the African race.
This is a good choice seeing as Alicia Keys’s singing-turnt-acting career is on the rise with the new movie “The Secret Life of Bees” coming out this month. She is also a philanthropist to HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Who’s that black princess? Why it’s Zya! See the picture at http://www.gravatar.com/avatar/3888f52566f7027774ac708fee135567?s=80
